Friends are coming, clean up, get ready, find dog sitter, shop, plan, think and rethink itinerary, make calls, reserve rooms, bake ahead, print directions, internet search, email, oh my.
Luke 10:38-42 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
I am so very like Martha. Even when I plan things, and it comes together well, I can never enjoy the fruit of my labor, because I am so busy during the event still worrying over every detail. I call it Martha Mode, but my husband Greg calls it what it really is....Psycho. Too aggravated when something goes wrong and taking it out on those who are too close. Yeah, not pretty. Need a list with be still and pray on it. Pray that the resolve to not act a fool, get upset, and just accept the Lord's provision regardless of circumstance is the solution.
It's good to know Martha is a saved person, she's just a bit over-zealous to make sure all the physical needs are met, and she misses the spiritual blessing of the fellowship. It's not that it's wrong to plan, or to want things to go well, it's just wrong to place more emphasis on it then the time spend together in union of spirit.
That said, I have to go now. I have things to do. Did I say that I'm busy, busier, well actually, busierest.

Hmmm...sounds familiar and that's what my husband calls me in that mode too!
Have been keeping you in prayer to relax and enjoy your fellowship, Renee. Pray you enjoyed your Amish country visits and entire time together. So nice of you to hostess (and for Greg to host).
Say Hello to everyone for me please. Thanks.
Beth
