Been pondering this phrase that I heard used recently (in the Feminine Christian Graces post). It was used in reference to the way that women make themselves up. I admit I'd never thought about it, it's just something that you're brought up with, and so you think it's natural for women to wear makeup. Why I've even heard stories about women who wouldn't even go out to get their mail unless they had their makeup on. Of course these stories were told about the woman as if she had something to be proud of because she refused to be seen in public with her natural face.
The clown hides behind his makeup and wig. This is a lie in the sense that it is not a true representation of how the clown looks in real life. A woman puts on makeup, and changes her hair color, and this too is a lie, because it is not really how she would look in real life.
Take for example, this woman:
Yeah, I'm so sure that's her natural hair color, and that once the layers of makeup come off she'll be a real beauty, or not, who can possible tell at this point?
I never really thought about the fact that any woman walking around wearing makeup is a liar. I'm sure they would protest should you tell them that this is how you felt about someone who presented themselves as something they are not. Why, everybody does it, it doesn't hurt anyone, plus if you don't like it, don't look. How simple do you think it would be to be in the world and not see any women made up. I'd say it would be near impossible.
Therefore, God has given me another good reason to seperate, and live in a Christian community. There women have beauty that is true. Sometimes it's outside, but mostly it's inside, where it counts.
1 Timothy 2:8-10
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
Yep, God said it right there....ALL CLOWNS ARE LIARS.
