As I revealed in the previous post, I've been walking 3 1/2 miles a day. So far I've lost 20 lbs, but not a soul has noticed. I guess when you weigh 240, losing 20 hardly makes a blip on the radar, but I can tell it, even if no one else can. Another difference in me is reflected in the fact that when I walk, I listen to sermons on my little sansa clip. The sermons I have been listening to have changed me in my mind, because I actually hear and comprehend the messages in ways I never had previously. Even when I transcribed a few of the sermons, their message was never as clear as they have been during these morning walks. This too is not something anyone has noticed by looking at me, but this too is something I can tell, even if no one else can.
After I got back from my walk yesterday, I mowed the lawn, and then picked about a bazillion (How many? A bazillion) maple tree seedling from out of the garden. The helicopter seed attack started not so very long ago, and a freshly tilled garden is an invitation that most of these seeds find hard to decline. I wish they could read, so I could put up a sign that says, maple tree seeds not allowed without express permission of the property management. Of course their applications would all be denied, but they wouldn't need to know that, and once again, I digress.
The kind of activity I've been doing lately would have been all but impossible just a few months ago. I am grateful to God for giving me both the resolve, and the understanding, to continue in this habit. Resolving both to keep fit physically, mentally and spiritually. That's no small task, and what it is, is a sign to me of God's working in my life. Ask God to show Himself to you in your life. You too might be surprised when you find yourself exercising more than just your body, but your mind, and your spirit, through His strength and not your own. OR maybe there's a fleece you want to put out to see if it is either damp or dry, like Gideon.
May God grant you wisdom, obedience, peace, joy, and grace. Exercise is just a bonus.
